I'm so excited to present the first published work in this newsletter. It comes from Monty Veccihio, a long-term subscriber to Sybrina's Phrase Thesaurus Newsletter. I think most of us can easily relate to the sentiments expressed here. Enjoy.

The gray light of the dawning morning peered through the thin bedroom curtains as Bob opened his eyes for the first time. It was that time of day when the black night was gone, but the rosy colors of morning had not yet filled the eastern sky with hope. Everything remained in the twilight shadows, a world filled with the ever-varying shades of gray; just like his life. "No! Night can't be over," he thought as he tugged the warm covers over his head to block out the ever-brightening gloom. His vacation was not yet over, he still had a few more minutes of sleep, which were squandered too soon.
BIRRRRRRrrrrr!!! The alarm clock yelled into Bob's ear. With as little motion as possible, Bob swung his thick hand through the air in the direction of the noise, as though shooing away pesky flies.... After bumping several items on the night stand, the noise stopped. He rolled over to curl up next to Shelly. She was as warm and soft as the night before. He held her closer for one last moment of bliss... Burying his nose in her long flowing hair, her sweet fragrance enfolded him into gentle slumber once again.
BIRRRRRRrrrrr!!! "Not again," he thought, "What happened to my vacation? Where did it go?" The morning before, he had woken up to the gentle call of sea gulls, and then, only after a long pause, got up to sip freshly made cappuccino while watching the rolling surf crash in long lines of foamy waves along the beach. "Ahhh, if only I were wealthy," he mused as he struggled to separate the world of dreams from his real life, "I could travel the world and see all those important things that other people talk about." He only had a dim notion of what those important things might be, but he did know that hot cappuccino with a touch of chocolate could cure any ill...
BIRRRRRRrrrrr!!! "Oh no!! Last call from the noise machine." He rolled over to look at the time and turn off the clock. Shelly stirred, rolled over to cuddle up with him like spoons and whispered, "Let's skip work today... call in sick or something... let's just stay here, in bed, all day long." What a tempting thought... but he had to separate dreams from life. "Ok," he replied as he turned to kiss her auburn locks. His thick lips passed down to the soft warmth of her cheek and then found the moistness of her tender lips. Then, it was Shelly's turn. "Oh my, it's getting late. We don't have time for this." With a half-hearted shove, she resisted his advances. The two tussled for a moment among the covers until a truce was drawn. They could no longer deny the advancing light. Beams of sunlight now hit Shelly's hair, turning it into rainbows of red and brown.
"All right," Bob at last complained to himself as he swung his feet to the cold hard floor. "Vacation is over. It's time to get back to the grind."
